Haiti - Sports : Meeting Michel Martelly - Adonis Stevenson, at the National Palace

Friday at the National Palace, President Michel Martelly, received in the presence of Magalie Racine, the Minister of Youth and Sports, the haitian Stevenson Adonis the World Champion Boxing (heavyweight) of the WBC (World Boxing Council) who finished his 72-hour stay in the land of his ancestors.

The Head of State congratulated Stevenson Adonis which makes the pride of all Haitians on the international scene "Congratulations. We are really proud of you. I myself am a fan of boxing, a lover of boxing [...] I take this opportunity to reiterate, once again, my determination to reward the efforts made by the Haitians living outside the country in order to project a positive image of Haiti in the world. I encourage you Stevenson to always makes float highest our flag and be a role model for our young athletes."

Stevenson gave President Martelly the pair of boxing gloves he had used during his victory against Chad Dawnson "It is with pleasure that I received these gloves on which it must still be the DNA of loser," said humorously the Head of State, adding "The people recognize themselves in him. I think he will have put in them this breath that they need to aspire to a better future."

Stevenson took the opportunity to launch a message of hope to young Haitians "I am more than satisfied with my trip to Haiti [...] if I was able to do what I did, them also are able [...] I began far from there, but I am today at the Presidential Palace. If I am able, you are able too !"
