Haiti - Diaspora : Commemoration of January 12, activities of the Consulate of Chicago 11/01/2014 09:58:45
Lesly Condé, the Consul General of Haiti in Chicago reminds to the compatriots in Chicago and throughout the Midwest, as well as friends of Haiti, that Sunday, January 12, decreed Day of Commemoration and Reflection by the Government of Haiti, brings the 4th anniversary of the earthquake of 12 January 2010. "January 12, 2010 is a pivotal moment in our national life. It is present in all of future and our reconstruction projects. However, our Mission wishes to enjoy the following activities to make a punctual tribute in memory of the victims of this historic tragedy : - Saturday, January 11, at the conference presented to the local 'Pan African Association' (6163 N Broadway St Chicago, IL 60660) from 2:00 pm by the organization 'New image of Haiti' - Sunday, January 12, during a Mass celebrated from 5:30 pm by Bishop Joseph Perry at the Church of Our Lady of Peace (7801 South Jeffery, Chicago). - Sunday, January 12, at the recital of Haitian classical music presented at 7:00 pm at the University of Chicago (5801 S Ellis Ave, Chicago) by the Ethno-musicologist Lauren Eldridge and his group, in memory of the victims. - Saturday, January 18, during the evening of unity presented by the 'Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti' in collaboration with the Consulate General of Haiti in Chicago."
