In the latest report of the Matrix Tracking of IDPs (DTM) the International Organization for Migration (IOM) explains that during the reporting period (October-December 2013), return programs have contributed to the closure of 38 sites and relocation of more than 3,532 displaced households, or 98% of the total reduction in the number of displaced households. It should be noted that during this period, the great camp Boliman Brant, with more than 2,700 households, was closed thanks to the return program.

Under the auspices of the Haitian government, in collaboration with IOM and other partners return programs have enabled the closure of 311 sites since June 2011 and the relocation of about 60,000 displaced households.

Highlights :

Four years after the earthquake of 12 January 2010, it is estimated that 146.573 people (about 39.464 households) still reside in 271 IDP sites. In comparison with the previous assessment, there is a decrease of 25.401 displaced persons (5,816 households), or respectively a 15% decrease in the number of individuals and 13% of the number of households.

Between September and December 2013, 41 sites were closed, which corresponds to a 11% decrease compared to estimates of September 2013. Since 2010, the displaced population has decreased by 90% and the number of sites decreased by 83%.

During the period covered by this report, rent subsidies have allowed the departure of 7,243 displaced households, or 90% of the total displaced households who left the camps opened and closed, and the closure of 38 IDP sites. In 2013, the net reduction of the displaced population accounted for 49,000 households (200,700 people) and 179 IDP sites (these figures include Cana an, Jérusalem, and Onaville) Of 179 sites closed in 2013, 162 have been through rent subsidies and 7 due to evictions. 3 large sites were closed in 2013 (Boliman Brant, Aviation Block 6 and 7).
