Haiti - Economy : Projects for Central Artibonite and North of Haiti

Tuesday, Wilson Laleau Minister of Economy and Finance, accompanied of executives of his ministry met with executives of the World Bank and Michael De Landsheer, the Director of the Technical Unit of Execution, to discuss of the evaluation mission of the World Bank and of two development projects : the project Heritage and Tourism Sector Support" (PAST) and the Project of "Development of the Center-Artibonite Loop".

The overall objective of PAST is to contribute to the inclusive development of northern Haiti around cultural sites. Restore, preserve and enhance heritage property, strengthen local infrastructure around these sites and support the development of the tourism sector in general. This project aims among others to invest in the historical center and the National History Park of Cap Haitien, while providing institutional support to the Institute for the Protection of National Heritage (ISPAN).

The outline of the project "Development of the Center-Artibonite Loop", are intended especially to improve logistics and transportation network between the Centre and Artibonite, strengthen local development through market improvement, their infrastructure, conditions and management. This project is expected to support regional economic growth by facilitating regional trade flows.
