Haiti - Politic : «Equality for Women is Progress for All»

As part of the celebration of International Women's Day which is celebrated on Saturday, March 8, 2014, throughout the world under the theme "Equality for Women is Progress for All", the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, in a statement, welcomed the contribution of Haitian women in the socio-economic development of Haiti.

The Head of Government will continue to support the actions of the women in the spheres of activity of the country, in order to safeguard the achievementsof the struggle for gender equity, through its many initiatives aimed firstly, to open a few more doors for Public Administration to women, and secondly, to improve consistently their living conditions.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to invite the various sectors of national life to overcome stereotypes that constitute a major obstacle to women's access to certain rights, including the right to education and equal pay.

Moreover, the Prime Minister called citizens, to make of this day, a rallying point to mobilize in favor of women's rights and their participation in political and economic life which constitute a real priority for the Administration Martelly.
