Haiti - Security : Towards a reconfiguration of the Minustah...

Monday, according to the Brazilian Chancellery, Sandra Honoré, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Haiti and Head of the Minustah meet among others in Brazil: Luiz Alberto Figueiredo, Brazilian Foreign Minister and Celso Amorim, Minister of Defence, to exchange information on the current process of reconfiguration of the Mission in Haiti.

Recall that the Brazilian government, military commander of the Minustah, which has 1,300 soldiers in Haiti, the largest contingent of peacekeepers (less than 1,000 before the earthquake of January 12, 2010), advocates for several months a gradual decrease in the foreign presence in Haiti, which include some 5,000 men from among others: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Spain, France, Italy, Canada and the United States. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9630-haiti-security-one-year-extension-of-the-mandate-of-the-minustah.html
