Saturday as part of the "Gouvènman an lakay ou" program which was held in Jérémie, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe announced it would support the production of "Konparèt" [a dense (but not heavy) and delicious cake-like bread in which coconut, ginger, and cinnamon represent the distinctive ingredients] a specialty of the city of Jérémie.

A sum of 100,000 gourdes will be granted to each association and/or business, in order to help to the içmprovement of the production chain of "Konparèt" "[...] An important source of income for producers," declared Ms. Emilie Frédérique Vincent aka "Madame Manès" renowned producer in the city of Jérémiewho took advantage of the opportunity to acknowledge the work of Olivia Charles (Madame Sénèque), another well-known producer in the city.

With this help, the Head of Government intends to inject new momentum in this sector. In this sense, he suggested to Mrs. Vincent and other producers of "Konparèt" to form an association in order to better exploit the opportunities offered to them.

The Prime Minister also announced that 20,000 "konparèt" will be purchased each month by the Government, through the "Economic and Social Assistance Fund" (FAES) to garnish the "Panye solidarite" distributed to the population under the "Ede Pèp" program.
