Haiti - Education : Launch of the construction of 28 schools throughout the country

Wednesday, Paul Moïse Gabriel, Deputy Director General of Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES), participated in the bi-monthly meeting between the FAES, the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) to discuss current issues, the monitoring and progress of the work under the Support program for Reconstruction of Education Sector (ARSE), of Support to the Implementation of the Sectoral Plan of Education and Educational Reform (AMOPERE) and of Access Program to Quality Education in Haiti (ACEQH).

Two separate teams have successively attended the two parts of the meeting that had the following themes: "The quality of education and governance" and "school infrastructure and furniture."

For the first two program, ARSE and AMOPERE, it is for the FAES toachieve school facilities and ensure institutional strengthening. For their part, officials of the Education For All (Éducation Pour Tous - EPT), will ensure the school subsidy in schools.

For the ACEQH program the implementing agencies: Technical Implementation Unit (UTE) will be responsible of school facilities, the EPT of school subsidies and the Programme Coordination Unit (UCP) of the vocational training. For this phase, the actions of FAES will be directed towards institutional strengthening.

Following this meeting, representatives of FAES, the IDB and MENFP decided to launch the construction of 28 schools throughout the country from 15 April. The construction of these 28 schools is part of the next achievements of ARSE and AMOPERE programs. hree firms (the two national and one international) will put their services to the construction of the 28 projects that will benefit from IDB financing and co-financing of Haiti Reconstruction Fund (HRF).
