Haiti - Social : Social Assistance in the Southeast and lower Northwest

Saturday, within the framework of National Social Assistance "Ede Pèp" program of the Administration Martelly/Lamothe, the "Caisse d'Assistance Sociale" (CAS) proceeded to the distribution of hundreds food kit of the subcomponent "Panye Solidarite" and envelopes each containing 1,000 gourdes, to the most vulnerable strata of the population of the municipality of Côtes-de-Fer (South East Port-au-Prince).

These distribution operations were conducted in the presence of Ledor Louis, Director of CAS, and Vice Delegate Departmental Poyon Joseph, both concerned about the precarious living conditions of populations and perspectives for socio-economic development of the various communes of Côtes-de-Fer : Gris-gris, Labiche, Bras-de-Gauche, Amazones, Boucan Bélier, Jamais vu.

"The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour (MAST) worked o evaluate the problems of people to see in a short time the type of contribution to make in the context of social policy," indicated the Director of the CAS, which considering other types of social accompaniment for people in Côtes-de-Fer.

Also recall that from 25 to 28 March, the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES), had conducted interventions in three communes of lower Northwest : Baie-de-Henne, Bombardopolis and Môle-Saint-Nicolas. Each of these localities received 750 food kits of the subcomponent "Panye Solidarite". These distributions that took place in the presence of the municipal authorities of these communes and represent is 3rd phase of intervention of emergency assistance in the department of Northwest from drought, food and economic slump that has been raging since January.

In response to this alarming situation, a special plan is being drawn up by the Primature for the great Northwest.
