Haiti - Diplomacy : President Martelly arrived in Taiwan

Sunday, President Michel Martelly, arrived in Taiwan (Republic of China) as part of a 4-days State visit https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10969-haiti-diplomacy-official-visit-of-president-martelly-in-taiwan.html

Accompanied by his wife Sophia Martelly, the Haitian President Martelly will lead a 30-member delegation, which will include among other Duly Brutus, the new Foreign Minister, Wilson Laleau, Minister of Trade and Industry, Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, as well as several high-level executives of the Government and leading figures from the business sector, the Head of State went strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and encourage Taiwanese entrepreneurs to come and explore the many business opportunities in Haiti in order to create jobs in the country.

Upon arrival at Taoyuan (CKS) International Airport Taipei, President Martelly has been very warmly welcomed by David YL Lin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan, who welcomed him on behalf of the Government and people Taiwanese. After a visit to the National Palace Museum, which traces 5,000 years of Chinese history and the Tower of Taipei, the fifth highest tower in the world (509m), the Head of State visited the Embassy of Haiti where he met with staff.

Thereafter, President Martelly met with Haitian students who continue their education in Taiwan. In the exchanges with these young people, the President related the many efforts of his administration to put the country on the path to sustainable development. He also reminded them of their contribution in the reconstruction of Haiti. "The country needs you, on your knowledge. After your studies, you must return to bring your stone in the construction of this great building whose my administration is laying the bases."

In the late afternoon, the Head of State attended an official dinner hosted in his honor by the Foreign Minister of Taiwan and his wife.

Monday Chancellor Duly Brutus should met his counterpart David YL Lin A and sign a technical assistance agreement to increase rice production in Haiti.
