Haiti - Health : New oral vaccine against rotavirus

The Directorate of the Expanded Programme of Immunization (DPEV) supported with the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) organized an information workshop for Haitian Journalists Network on Health (RHJS) on the introduction in Haiti, of the new oral vaccine against rotavirus.

This workshop aimed at sharing information with the opinion leaders, the benefits of the vaccine against rotavirus for children under 6 months and sensitize them to cooperate in the dissemination of information on the new childhood vaccine.

Recall that rotavirus is the leading cause of severe acute diarrhea in children under 5 years (500,000 victims per year worldwide). This virus also causes abdominal pain, fever, vomiting and risk of dehydration.

The launch of this new oral vaccine against rotavirus, is scheduled for April 29 at Place Boyer Petion-Ville 10:00 am
