Sunday, in Haubourg, a locality of the first plaine of Petit-Goâve, the "Movement for Agricultural Development of Peasants of Petit-Goâve" (MDAPP), celebrated its 8 years of existence under the theme "Agriculture is the first pillar of economic growth and a reduction factor of poverty". Recall that the MDAPP is led by agronomist Gaëthan Toussaint, a worthy son of the first plaine dedicated to the cultivation of the land, farmers coaching and training of young people in agricultural technology.

The peasants of the locality of Haubourg took advantage of the mic of Radio Préférence FM to express their grievances, requesting, inter alia, agricultural credit but mainly the irrigation of the area by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Very critical towards the government, the peasants of aubourg explained "We have vast unused land, because of the lack of funds, we also have water, but our land is not irrigated [...] We call the State to help us irrigate our fields for that we can feed the country with food. At Haubourg, we can cultivate among others rice, corn, tomatoes, peas, carrots, vegetables, sugarcane [...] The first plaine of Petit-Goâve is rich in fertile land but alas, these are lands are wasted, because the State does not give priority to agriculture and refuses to support the farmers."
