Due to a strong suspicion of counterfeit pharmaceuticals in the Haitian market, the Ministry of Public Health and Population in order to protect the health of the population decided to suspend the sale throughout the national territory of two products : BACTOCLAV and the AUGMENTIN with indicated on the label : Amoxicillin, clavulanic acid.

In a statement, Dr. Florence D. Guillaume, Minister of Health, said that his Ministry has already contacted Laboratories of quality control for further investigation of stocks and lots of such products "the drugs BACTOCLAV and AUGMENTIN (amoxicillin, clavulanic acid) are strictly prohibited from sale and use throughout the territory of the Republic of Haiti, until further notice decides otherwise.

The Ministry relies on all health professionals, pharmacists and pharmacy owners, prescribers of all types and the General Population for the strict application of this preventive measure."
