Haiti - Justice : «The judiciary has given a clear signal» dixit Ady Jean Gardy

The Federation of Haitian Press (FPH) headed by former minister of communications, Ady Jean Gardy openly congratulated the Haitian justice (on the radio stations of the capital, of province and diaspora), for the extradition from Argentina Saturday of Philippe Markington, accused of involvement in the case Jean Dominique and Jean Claude Louissaint murdered April 3, 2000.

According to Mr. Ady Jean Gardy "the judiciary has given a clear signal in the context of prosecution relating to the murders of journalists such Jean Dominique. The fact that it is members of the Brigade of Intervention and Research (BRI) and of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), who were seeking the fugitive in Buenos Aires to bring him in Haiti is "a step in the right direction" stressed dy Jean Gardy, who also took the opportunity to congratulate the Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, who has argued for "no obstruction of justice".

Recalling the history of this prosecution against Philippe Markington, Ady Jean Gardy indicated that a first judicial inquiry, March 21, 2003, had resulted in the indictment and imprisonment of six people or Philippe Markington, Dymsley Milien, Jeudi Jean-Daniel, Ralph Léger, Freud Junior Demarattes and Joseph Ralph. Some had been released by the Court of Appeal on 4 August 2003. Others kept in prison. In February 2005, in favor of a suspicious mutiny, Markington had escaped and fled to Argentina.

Interpol intervened in April 2014 and arrested Philippe Makenton. The Inter American Press Association in collaboration with the Federation of Journalists of Argentina and the FPH have supported the efforts for justice decides in Haiti once and for all in the Dominique case, considering Markington as one of the only survivors of individuals wanted for this crime.

Without accusing Markington of being the author of the assassination of the late director of Radio Haiti, Jean Leopold Dominique, the FPH believes that "now is the role of the justice which will make appear the accused this week, to determine whether or not Makenton is innocent in this crapulous murder."
