Friday at Municipal Palace of Delmas, the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, participated in an awareness meeting of Mayors, of members of the Boards of Directors of Communal Sections (CASECs) and of members of the Communal Sections Assemblies (ASECS) around the chikungunya.

This activity, organized by the Ministry of Public Health and Population, was attended by Dr. Florence Duperval Guillaume, the Minister of Health, Réginald Delva, the Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities and officials from the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP). This activity is part of prevention activities of vector-borne diseases started from the month of March by the MSPP and which have strengthened since the appearance of Chikungunya in the country and also to provide local authorities with the necessary information for a better understanding of the disease.

In his speech, Réginald Delva, reminded all development officers the responsibility they have to collect the grievances of the people and pass them to the relevant authorities for action.

The minister Guillaume, urged people to put into practice the advice of the health authorities, noting that the ministry is unable to alone to lead that struggle against this epidemic that affects everyone.

For her part, Sophia Martelly congratulated the MSPP for this initiative and renewed to participants the confidence of President Martelly "Prezidan Martelly konte anpil sou volonte nou, sou aksyon nou, pou fè devlopman an pa rete chita sèlman nan gwo vil yo men pou li al jwenn tout ayisyen nenpòt ki kote yo ye nan peyi a," she declared.

In addition, at the initiative of the First Lady, a mobile clinic was held the same day at Educational Complex on the zone, during which more than 600 people received free medical care and medicines.
