Haiti - Immigration : The Dominican Republic will reinforce its controls

Korea Eximbank (Export-Import Bank) formalized Thursday a funding of 32 million to the Dominican Republic for the modernization of immigration control operating in the country.

The agreement was signed by Temistocles Montas, Dominican Minister of Economy and Kim Soo, Director of the Cooperation Fund of Eximbank, during a ceremony at the National Palace.

"Through the provision of equipment, infrastructure construction and staff training, this program will help modernize the entire system in arrival and departure in the ports and airports, and in all the checkpoints along the Dominican-Haitian border" informed the Minister. Stating that "will improve and modernize the control of migration flows including the key point that represents the border with Haiti."

For his part, Mr. Soo Kim said Korea Eximbank was proud "to contribute in a matter of such importance to the security of the country [Dominican Republic]". The Korean Mission also met the Director General of Immigration, Vice Admiral Sigfrido Pared Perez.
