Haiti - Economy : Some key figures on the Finance Bill 2014-2015

Tuesday, at the initiative of the Group Croissance, Marie Carmelle Jean Marie, Minister of Economy and Finance has presented the main lines of the Finance Bill 2014-2015 tabled in Parliament on June 30, to an informed public of the business sector, economic sector and civil society.

This budget of 122.6 billion gourdes proposed by the government, is lower compared to the draft budget law submitted to Parliament last year, but slightly higher [+ 4 billion gourdes] to the one that was recently revised and voted in Parliament.

Some key figures :

  • The growth rate of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the year 2014-2015 is estimated 4.6%, supported by agriculture 2.5%, industry 6% and construction +8% ;

  • Revenue for 2014-2015 is estimated at 49%, a significant improvement in our fiscal autonomy [40% in 2012-2013 and 43% in 2013-2014] ;

  • Inflation yoy should not exceed 7.5% ;

  • The tax burden will not increase and will be around 13% ;

  • Current expenditure will increase by 11% compared to the current budget, due to the increase in payroll [23%] ;

  • Planned investments amounted to 67.5 billion gourdes with internal funding 31% ;

  • 4.1% is allocated to the repayment of domestic debt and external.

Allocation of Budgetary Credits :

25.45 billion gourdes for the Ministry of Public Works;

20.37 billion gourdes for the Ministry of National Education;

9.77 billion gourdes for the Ministry of Justice;

9.48 billion gourdes for the Ministry of Planning;

7.49 billion gourdes for the Ministry of Agriculture and National Resources;

5.73 billion gourdes for the Ministry of Public Health;

3.44 billion gourdes for the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities;

2.26 billion gourdes for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

1.30 billion gourdes for the Ministry of Commerce and Industries;

1.20 billion gourdes for the Ministry of the Environment;

974 million gourdes for the Ministry of Tourism.
