Haiti - Politic : «We plan to lead the country to general elections» dixit Moïse...

Thursday the Assembly scheduled to take place in the Senate to study the possible ratification of the amendment of the electoral law has once again failed due to lack of quorum. While the Senate President had evoked a consensus among senators for the holding of this meeting, only 13 out of 20 senators were present at roll call. Except 2 justified absences of Senators : Pierre-Louis Lucien Derex and Maxime Roumer, 5 other senators have not shown voluntarily : Pierre Francky Exius (G6), Jean-Baptiste Bien-Aimé (G6), John Joël Joseph (G6), Westner Polycarpe (G6) and Anick François Joseph.

These five senators waited until the end of the roll call to enter the room, an attitude criticized by the President of the Senate, which adjourned the meeting and announced its postponement to a later date, stating clearly frustrated by this policy of the empty chair "[...] I hope that the Senate fulfill the mission entrusted to them by their constituents. They should know that they were voted for come and sit in the Senate to work."

Senator Andris Riché (OPL), Vice-President of the Senate held about much less complaisant towards opposition senator, saying without jargon, that the meeting had failed "because the delinquency was brought to a high level," believing that these senators are "the best paid of the Republic with enormous privileges, have not rendered any service to the country [...] It is a national disgrace [...] They are lazy who are short of arguments [...]"

Note that Moïse Jean-Charles and Jean William Jeanty both members of the opposition grouped in the G6 were present at the appeal.

Senator Moïse Jean-Charles who spoke on behalf of the G6, said it was first of all to give a clear answer to Senator Desras, which announced that he had reached a consensus. Reiterating that the ratification of the Electoral law was no longer on the agenda, he declared "no question of elections this year. Now we plan to lead the country to general elections."

Faced with this revolt of 6 opposition senators, Senator pro-Martelly, Edwin Zenny considering the possibility of using drastic measures and to make dysfunctional the Senate to put an end to this crisis "Starting tonight, I will engage in discussions with five pro-government senators to know what to do," not ruling out to resigning while stressing "If I quit, I can not make the dysfunctional Senate, but if 3 resign..."
