Haiti - Culture : The Government wants closer Haiti to South Africa 28/08/2014 14:07:46
The Haitian Government, through its Embassy in Pretoria, intends to strengthen economic cooperation, and cultural cooperation between Haiti and South Africa. A memorandum of cooperation framework in the development of audio-visual and communication with the "South African Broadcasting Corporation" (SAB), has been developed. The cooperation with the SAB, which runs three TV stations and 18 national and regional radio, consists mainly in the coverage of Africa by the Radio and Television Nationale d'Haiti. In the cultural sphere, the Government will open by January 2015, its Embassy in Pretoria, a cultural center named Toussaint Louverture. This center will have space for documentation and reading, called Library Jean Price Mars. It will host in writing residency, artistic and literary creation of Haitian writers and artists. At the initiative of the Ambassador of Haiti in South Africa, Stéphane d'Ennery Déjoie, several Haitian writers will be invited to the biggest book fair in Johannesburg. The Embassy will organize from 12 to 18 November, a Haitian Day. The famous folk dance troupe "Bakoulou" will participate in this important event and will also perform in concert in Soweto and Cape Town. Haitian cinema will be honored on 25 October in Pretoria, at the film festival organized by the Embassies of Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC). According to the wishes of President Michel Martelly, the government is working to ensure that our membership in Africa remains intact, noting that Haiti, it is Africa in the Caribbean. Also, the approximation of Haiti of its "Alma Mater" is one of the major focuses of the foreign policy of President Martelly. HL/ HaitiLibre
