Laurent Lamothe, Prime Minister and Minister of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE), chaired Friday an important interministerial meeting and multisectoral around the emergency plan of support to the new school year scheduled for September 8, 2014.

The plan, that extends until 31 December of the current year, is implemented by the administration Martelly and Lamothe government, in order to boost the economy of the most vulnerable families.

This meeting consists to generate synergy within the government team so that every penny spent can have a real impact on the new school year, which is a government priority.

Prime Minister Lamothe welcomed that new safety features are implemented at the approach of the new school year.

The Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) and the Ministry of Social Affairs (MAS) will jointly intervene at the protection program and social solidarity, called "Ede-Pèp" and the rehabilitation of school infrastructure across the 140 communes of country. Thus, the Government, through the Ministry of Social Affairs has disbursed 100 million gourdes for the realization of many activities planned in the social welfare plan on the occasion of the back to school. This special fund will enable 120,000 vulnerable households to receive a cash transfer of 500 gourdes.

The Department of Metropolitan Solid Waste Collection (SMCRS) and the Ministry of Public Works are working together to clean and open up the main streets.

Through this plan, they indends especially create several thousand jobs across the country. The SMCRS plans to create between 20 to 25,000 jobs, by hiring more than 6,000 people over a period of six months.

This emergency fund in support to the new school year 2014 is an integrated plan, of social solidarity, reflecting the infallible willingness of the administration Martelly and Lamothe Government to continue to fight extreme poverty, exclusion and social injustice.
