All sectors of the local life now feel concerned and challenged by the climate of violence that reigns in Petit-Goâve for several weeks, journalists whose job is to relay the information, report the facts objectively, and cover events and demonstrations, are not spared by violence of all kinds in Petit-Goâve, whether verbal or physical... It should be noted that at each demonstration, one or two journalists are attacked in Petit-Goâve.

That's why Saturday afternoon, journalists marched peacefully and silently through the streets of Petit Goâve to say no to violence against men and women of the local press and call for the respect of freedom of press. The march departed on the Place des Abeilles (La Hatte) nd ended at The Avenue Laberte (Jubilé), near the intersection Dicette André, a stronghold of opposition members.

Several journalists of Petit-Goâve have denounced, the many cases of physical and verbal aggression faced by colleagues in the exercise of their functions including our correspondent Guyto Mathieu of Radio Préférence, Anel joseph, correspondent of Radio Caraïbes, Elisé Sincère, correspondent of Radio Vision 2000, Ernst joseph of Radio Prévention, Lamy Fénol, aggressed by opposition supporters while Ephésien Joseph of Radio Vision Plus, Duralph Francois of Radio Renaissance, Codio Roody have been aggressed by supporters of local authorities.

Journalists have said nothing for the journey, they expressed with many placards on which they had written messages of Peace, messages that require respect for the rights of journalists. It is the journalist Montigène Sincère, the older journalists, who spoke on behalf of all and delivered this message "No to violence against journalists. The two opposing sides must respect their freedom and their rights. There 'will not, in Petit-Goâve, another Brignol Lindor [Radio Echo 2000 journalist murdered December 3, 2001]" he declared.
