Haiti - Economy : D-8 before the opening of the Electronic Single Window

Monday to the Karibe Convention Center, the President Michel Martelly, officially launched the Electronic Single Window (Guichet Unique Électronique - GUÉ) for registration of public limited companies.

Recall that the Electronic Single Window, which will be officially opened to the public on October 15, 2014 [www.entrepreneur.mci.gouv.ht] is an interactive application implemented by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI) , with the aim of improving the quality of service it provides to its customers entrepreneurs and investors, whether they are in Haiti or abroad, during the registration of their companies. It will help to make 10 times faster the process of registering a company taking into account the constraints of Haitian law.

In the presence of the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, Wilson Laleau, Minister of Trade and Industry, members of government and of Parliament, Gilles Damais, Operations Director of the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), Ms. Bénédicte Gazon, Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Haiti and Claude Pierre Louis, Director General of SOGEBANK, the Head of State expressed its deepest satisfactions. "With the completion of this project, a major step was taken in the modernization of our economy. Starting a company is no longer an insurmountable task. Our entrepreneurs will not find any justification to remain in the informal [...] This effort of formalization continued with the GUÉ will have the effect of raising the standard of living of the population and improving the overall productivity of the economy," encouraging the Senate to ratify the Law on Electronic Signature, to further reduce this delay (passed by deputies last September before the parliamentary vacationhttps://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12014-haiti-politic-law-on-electronic-signature-voted-in-the-lower-house.html ).

For his part, the Minister Laleau, assured that the GUÉ, as designed and implemented, is an important tool that will have a positive impact on the business climate in Haiti and will significantly improve the position of Haiti

in the report "Doing Business" of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), with respect to the first of the ten indicators, the one covering the "business creation".
