Haiti - Politic : Success of the fair agro-artisanal and gastronomic of Jérémie

As part of the International Day of Rural Women, at Park Saint-Louis of Jérémie, fifty women's organizations, more than 100 exhibitors, thousands of students and nearly 10,000 visitors have made of the great fair agro-artisanal and gastronomic a success. Grain mills, agricultural tools, boots, wheelbarrows, nets and ovens have been distributed to contribute to facilitating the work of rural women. In his speech, the Minister Mézile acknowledged the difficulties faced by women in the Haitian peasantry. While emphasizing their fundamental role in the economy, she promised to work with the Ministries of Commerce, Agriculture and the peasantry, to enable them to have access to agricultural credit and simultaneously improve their living conditions.

For his part, the Head of State insisted on the efforts that must be done on both sides, setting the responsibility of state authorities in the improvement of living conditions of rural women but also the participation of the latter in the process "It is not enough to wait until everything comes from state officials. Everyone should join in a common goal, the same objective, to move in the direction of change and sustainable development."

Women did not hide their satisfaction with this initiative they have classified as rare and exceptional. For more success and achievements, the Minister Mézile, intends to go beyond the efforts and means to enable Haitian women in general and rural women in particular to enjoy their rights and fulfill their roles in society.
