Thursday was launched the 1st edition of the International Rum Festival to be held Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 November at the NH El Rancho Hotel, under the patronage of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, who hope that this initiative will continue to exist over time. This event is inspired by the "Rum Fest Paris" and the Feast of the cane in Martinique, it wants to be a tasting fair and a platform for exhibition of the best rums brands of the world.

"It will be a unique event in Haiti and we encourage people to participate in the Festival which will have a panel of judges composed of experts and producers of rums, including from Europe," declared Isidor Djunelle, Manager of "J’Organise", which offers this Friday, November 14 on the eve of the opening of the festival, a welcome drink to greet the participants.

Rums exposed will be divided in two air-conditioned rooms (Epicurus and Bellevue) with custom bars. A third room (Eureka), equipped with a giant screen and a bar, will host two training sessions given on the occasion by Mr. Benoit Bail and Mr. Jérôme Vallanet, two experts Tasting and Mixology, organizers explained that the courtyard of the Hotel will be filled with booths like Gingerbread to remind the colonial era.

According to Pierre Thibault, Communications Adviser to "J’Organise", the biggest brands of rum from the Caribbean, Central America, North and South America, Europe and the Indian Ocean will be exhibited at the Festival of rum of Haiti. Stressing that the rums of ous land will also be exposed, quoting our national flagship, the Rhum Barbancourt.

Guest of honor at the launch, the Saint James Rhum of Martinique had been represented by Paul Beaulieu, Assistant Manager, a Haitian who has lived for more than 40 years in Martinique "When I was approached for the realization of this event, I do not believe that we could achieve it this year," Mr. Beaulieu said, congratulating the initiators of this event that will host a prestigious panel of judges, consisting of initiators of Festivals throughout the world and experts in Rum and Spirits, as well as the Global Ambassador of Rum Ian A.V. Burrell.

Price, including Gold, Silver and Bronze medals, will be awarded to the best rums and cocktails after appreciation of jury.
