Haiti - Security : Militarization in Dajabón against Haitians

Following the many complaints from residents of Dajabón, Ramona Rodriguez Quezada, the Civil Governor of Dajabón, border town in the northwest of the Dominican Republic after a meeting with the civil and military authorities, ordered the deployment of the military in the city to end a situation considered exasperating. The cause, a important flow of Haitians at the border, the many disturbing to public order, constant traffic of motorcycles at night and the increase in prostitution in the parks of the city.

The army, together with agents of "Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Fronteriza" (CESFRONT), in support of the Dominican National Police, was deployed among other in the parks Duarte, Juan Luis Franco Bidó and on the streets: 27 de Febrero, Capotillo, Duarte, Benito Mención.

Carlos Bueno, the Spokesman of the Governor, stated that the control guidelines of Haitian was ordered by Danny Carmen Minaya, the Prosecutor of Dajabon, who, with the mayor, Miguel Humberto Tatis, the Commander of the tenth army battalion, Colonel Narciso Onésime Madé Guerrero and the Police Colonel Francisco Antonio Colón, coordinate to enforce the instructions of the Governor.
