Haiti - Politic : The President Martelly announced the end of the consultations

On Monday, President Michel Martelly met at National Palace a group of women leaders, representatives of the agricultural sector and the new Bishop of Fort-Liberté, Mgrs Quesner Alphonse. Following these meetings, he announced the end of the series of consultations started on 22 September.

He also revealed that his office was finalizing the synthesis of various proposals to end the crisis, especially made by civil society organizations and political parties and that a Council of Ministers will be held to present the members of the government, the outline of the synthesis, which will be discussed prior to its announcement to the nation, to an unknown date.

According to him, end the crisis proposals are contradictory and he said to be aware that his decision and the manner he intends to use to solve this crisis will not be unanimous. He assures that he will popularize his decision among the population, so that they understand what he wants to do.

Regarding the parties of the radical opposition, that have declined by 3 times the invitation of the Head of State, no further invitation is on the agenda. However, the Head of State reiterates its willingness to reach an agreement with the opposition, while suggesting clearly that he did not intend to give in to the opposition, which requires a set of conditions prior to a meeting.

Regarding the offer for mediation transmitted by Mgr Patrick Harris, spokesman of the Mediation Council of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti (CEH) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12577-haiti-politic-the-ceh-ready-to-be-once-again-the-mediator.html the Head of State said "We have already tried this. Today, following the consultations, the President will move forward..."

Despite the end of the consultation, the President Martelly said he was open to meet on a head to head the Senate President Dieuseul Simon Desras, which made the request Sunday demand on a radio station of the capital.
