Haiti - News Flash : Storm, Evaluation of current situation

The storm hit the capital yesterday killed at least five dead (3 children and 2 adults). One child died in the camp set up on the golf course in Petion Ville, two other children are dead, a woman was also killed in the camp Acra and another in Poste Marchand. This is an interim assessment, which could rise there were many serious injuries.

MINUSTAH was deployed five battalions of peacekeepers around the city to assess the camps, and damage and also responded to calls from people trapped for medical emergencies.

The situation is difficult, refugees in some camps are very angry, hampering relief operations « we could not get into a camp to assess the destruction, people were angry » said an officer of the Protection civile.
