Haiti - Economy : The political situation threatens 3 investment projects
José Del Castillo Saviñón, the Dominican Minister of Industry and Trade, said that the political situation in Haiti could affect several private investment projects to be implemented bilaterally. He recalled that the business sectors of the two countries had identified during the year, three bi-national projects.
The first concerns the development of a large-scale farm who must use a cane mill in the border province of Elías Piña and Belladère. The second concerns the multi-destination tourism between the provinces of Pedernales and Anse-à-Pitre. Finally, a third major hydroelectric project concerns a special economic zone in the province of Dajabon and Ouanaminthe.
This is a project to build a hydroelectric dam in Jimani to produce energy using the Lake Enriquillo and Azuei. The past two months, the private sector has revealed that in January 2015, the project feasibility studies will be ready to then establish a fund and seek international organizations resources and analyze the contribution of each government.
