Haiti - Education : Campaign on family responsibility

As part of the awareness campaign on family responsibility, agents of the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (IBESR) and from the Association of Volunteers for International Service (AVSI) met this week schoolchildren and teachers of schools in Martissant around the theme "sipò granmoun yo, se fòs Timoun yo".

Recall that this campaign aims to: prevent and reduce family neglect through an awareness campaign on family responsibility and the system for the protection of the child in Cite Soleil and Martissant in 50 families and 24 schools; promote family responsibility and strengthen parental involvement in monitoring the school life of their children; strengthen parental involvement in children's leisure activities in the identified areas and raise the level of awareness of parents and of the civil society on the child protection services in the community.

Through these exchanges, students understand that the support of their parents in school activities is very important, not only for their academic performance, but also for their well-being. For their part, the teachers defined and identified new strategies to educate parents in monitoring their children's school activities.
