Haiti - Social : Important meeting between the World Bank and the BSEIPH

This week was held a first meeting between the World Bank and the Office of the Secretary of State (Gérald Oriol Jr.) for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH) and its partners, for the execution of the project for the improvement of access to social services and employment for people with special needs.

This project, which will run in several departments of the country, is expected to reach, from 2015 to 2019, about 100,000 people with special needs, through three main areas: the establishment of a national registry for people with disabilities; the development of a mapping of services and the strengthening of Employment Service for the disabled.

This project, which was designed with the World Bank and the Ecuadorian government, will be financed by the Government of Japan to the tune of $3 million.

Various institutions participated in the meeting including: the Fund for Economic and Social Assistance (FAES), the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP), the Haitian Institute of Rehabilitation, Institute of Social Welfare and Research (IBERS), the National Identification Office (ONI), the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Information (IHSI), the National Associative Network for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (RANIPH) and the Haitian Federation of Associations and Institutions of Disabled People of Haiti (FHAIPH).
