Haiti - Politic : Evans Paul discusses governance and elections with the Minustah

On Thursday, Prime Minister Evans Paul had an important meeting with a delegation of the Minustah conducted by Sandra Honoré, the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Haiti.

This meeting focused on the actions of the Minustah in Haiti, in the fields of security, political stability, support for public governance and the judiciary, the rule of law and support for the next election.

Describing positive the balance sheet of the UN Mission in Haiti, the Head of Government congratulated the Minustah for its efforts in consolidating the security environment and political stability.

Reciprocally Mrs Honore congratulated the President Martelly and Prime Minister Paul for the efforts for the formation of the consensus government. She wanted a harmonization and collaboration between the executive and the 10 senators. In response, Evans Paul reported on the various meetings between the two heads of the executive and senators affirming "The President and I have the willingness to work, to work with senators. We seek to define in that sense the formula that seems best. Collaborate with senators is a priority for us in government."

Regarding the next elections, the Minustah promised to support the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) by making funds available to it, in addition to participating in the training of 5,000 electoral security agents and training of trainers.

Prime Minister Paul, assured of the government's determination to also contribute financially to the CEP.
