For her part, Cristina Lizardo, the President of the Dominican Senate, described the closure of the Dominican consulates in Haiti as a response "very timely and appropriate to the situation we face today," stressing that the Dominican government had shown prudence with Haiti, recalling that "prudence should not be confused with weakness, because we are aware of the role we have to play, as a country, we continue to be prudent."
