Haiti - Justice : Towards the 1927 law enforcement on the immediate trial in correctional

On Friday, the Ministry of Justice through its Secretary of State, Me Jacquenet Oxilus, launched the awareness workshops on immediate trial in correctional, in accordance with the Act of 6 May 1927 especially for cases of flagrante delicto and allows to reach a judgment on the same day the offense is committed, a way to avoid the increasing number of cases of preventive detention.

At the launch of these workshops where participated of Commissioners and substitutes of jurisdictions of jurisdictions Port-au-Prince and Croix-des-Bouquets, Me Jacquenet Oxilus insisted on the benefits of this law at a time when the Government amplifies the fight against prolonged pretrial detention particularly in the context of its operation "punch" launched on March 2 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13297-haiti-justice-operation-punch.html

Drawing the attention of Chief Prosecutors on the circulars of the Ministry to facilitate the processing of the prosecution records, the Secretary of State, accompanied by the interim Dean of the Court of First Instance (TPI) of Port-au-Prince, Me Bernard St-Vil and the interim chief prosecutor of this, Me Clamé-Ocnam Daméus, appealed to the dynamism and the competence of the officers of the tribunal for fast processing of cases submitted to them, this, in the interests of litigants.

These awareness workshops on the importance of the Law of May 6, 1927 providing for the immediate trial in correctional, will extend to all jurisdictions of the country and the Secretary of State for Justice will meet in turn, magistrates in the various departments of the country.
