Haiti - Security : Donation of Japan to strengthen the security of the upcoming elections

Wednesday in the framework of bilateral cooperation, Japan donated 140 motorcycles, valued at 866.500 US dollars, to the National Police of Haiti. Katsuyashi Tamura, Ambassador of Japan accredited to Port-au-Prince, explained that these motorcycles, which will be distributed in 6 departments, in order to allow PNH officers to have easier access to remote areas and improve their capacity to respond, to better ensure security during the electoral process. For his part, Godson Orélus, the Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), recalling that Japan is one of the first partner of the PNH, said that these motorcycles will help intensify preventive actions and give more visibility to the police.
