In a note, the President Michel Martelly, deplores and condemns the acts of vandalism against the premises of the Communal Electoral Offices (BEC) of Petit-Goâve on May 15 https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-13894-icihaiti-social-the-bec-of-petit-goave-torched-by-protesters.html and that of Jacmel on the night of May 15 to 16, 2015.

"Faced with these practices, which are similar to maneuvers aimed to counteract the smooth running of the electoral process, the President of the Republic informs that clear instructions were passed to the competent authorities so that the perpetrators, co-perpetrators and accomplices of these unacceptable acts are prosecuted, arrested and brought to justice.

Moreover, the Head of State warns against any propensity for violence, both during and after the electoral process and calls on all actors to tolerance and respect for democratic principles, only way to strengthen the rule of law and to keep the country on track of sustainable development.

Finally, the President Martelly reiterates, once again, the determination of his Administration to facilitate the organization of free, fair, democratic and inclusive elections in the country [...]"
