Friday, after several weeks of disruption in the supply of passport booklets and intense frustration for the citizens awaiting, Rothchild François Jr., the Minister of Communication, announced a good news : 60,000 passports are now available.

"There are 60,000 passports booklets that arrived today in the country, and at the immigration service, work will be done throughout the weekend. Employees will work to put everything in place to be able to begin distribution of passports.

[...] for the moment there 35,000 passport applications which are pending, I just spoke with my colleague the Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities, Dr. Ariel Henry, and he gave me the guarantee that at the immigration Service, they will work all weekend for that from next week, we start distributing passports to people who are making the request.

Do not forget once again, there are 60,000 booklets that are entered and there are 35,000 applications suffering at the immigration service. We know that this is a news much-awaited, people had made the filing of the application but at the immigration service until now, it was impossible to obtain a passport," affirming "we guarantee that from this week, the people that made the request will be able to start receiving their passports at the Immigration Service [...] We have an order already ready, and a new shipment is supposed to arrive in Haiti next month to be able to get out of this problem of passports..."
