On the occasion of the adoption of the new RIP, Ambassador of the European Union in Haiti, Javier Niño Pérez, declared "The Caribbean is characterized by great diversity in terms of economic development, size or status of countries in particular. At the same time, there are common challenges that justify further cooperation." The RIP is designed to fund regional programs covering three key sectors : First focal sector: cooperation and regional economic integration is endowed with a budget of € 102 million which will be devoted to strengthening cooperation and regional integration, develop a inclusive and sustainable private sector and facilitate investment and trade capacities of Caribbean countries. The second focal sector: climate change, environment, risk management and disaster and renewable energy - has €61,5 millions to strengthen regional resilience to climate change and natural disasters, but also to support a sustainable use of natural resources while increasing energy efficiency and using renewable energies. Finally, the sectors of criminality and security have a budget of €44 million for crime prevention, the promotion of restorative justice, improving citizen security and border security, including the management of migration flows and to promote greater adherence to international standards in the fight against economic crime, terrorism financing and corruption.
