Haiti - Economy : Inauguration of the new world class Port Lafito

On Thursday, President Michel Martelly, participated in the inauguration of the new Port Lafito. In the presence of members of government, Alix Célestin, the Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), representatives of the private business sector and police authorities, the Head of State praised the efforts of all those who participated in the realization of this major project "I salute all the men and women who participated in the success of this major project. These infrastructures will contribute to the country's economic development. Bravo to the private business sector."

In his speech, Alix Célestin, said that the realization of this project is the result of a true partnership between the Group Biggio (GB Group), the Haitian government and several entrepreneurs of the Haitian private sector.

Gilbert Biggio, the President of multinational consortium "GB Group" especially thanked the President of the Republic and the Director General of the APN who contributed to the realization of the new Port Lafito.

Recall that the Port Lafito whose cost amounts to $ 150 million, initiated by the GB Group, is the first Panamax port of Haiti (world class modern container port) and the centerpiece of the economic zone of project Lafito Global. This premiere in the Haitian maritime and port sector expects to create 20,000 jobs over the next four years.
