Following the investigation of the Unit for the Fight against Corruption (ULCC) produced at the request of the Ministry of National Education, that revealed a fraud allowing schools to divert funds from the Universal Schooling Program Free and Compulsory (PSUGO) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14436-haiti-justice-vast-operation-of-embezzlement-of-psugo-funds.html , the Ministry of Education informs that it has been decided to exclude from PSUGO, 85 schools suspected of fraud, located in the communes of Carrefour and Gros Morne and publishes the list of these schools and the name of their director Download the list : https://www.haitilibre.com/docs/Rapport-ULCC-liste.pdf

The records of the schools who cashed an overpayment were also sent to the judicial authorities for appropriate action to recover the fraudulently obtained funds.

Recall that the investigation of the ULCC focused on 208 private schools In the commune of Carrefour and 132 in Gros Morne beneficiaries of PSUGO subsidies. The report revealed various irregularities and frauds as well as the non-existence of several schools and secondly, the inability to 64 schools to prove the size of their class, particularly because of the lack of an attendance book . Fraud relate in particular to the difference found between the number of subsidized children and the number of children actually in the classroom.

The Ministry recalls that this action is within the framework of government initiatives, at the request of the President of the Republic for a reframing of PSUGO to improve the effectiveness of the program to the benefit of children. The Ministry allow a period expiring on 14 July, to the school directors targeted in the report for the cases referred in order to plead their case and clarify their situation to the departmental education directorates (DDE) concerned.

Moreover, the Ministry expects the findings of other investigations in progress, to adopt new measures against schools that are involved in fraud cases
