Saturday evening, at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Jean Pascal (30-3-1, 17 KO's), Quebec boxer of Haitian origin (born 28 October 1982 in Port-au-Prince) after an extremely tight fight, won in 10 rounds, an unconvincing victory by unanimous decision of three judges (96-94) against the Cuban Yunieski Gonzalez (16-1,12 KO's), to the great displeasure of a public visibly frustrated and disagree with the judges.

The Cuban had yet seemed to do enough to get the judges favor with 358 hits against 220 for Pascal and reaches its opponent to 105 occasions against 103 for Jean Pascal.

Gonzalez has largely dominated the first three commitments, whereas Pascal, who suffered a contusion in training to the right hand, did not seem able to reply to the powerful attacks of his opponent, preferring instead to hang to avoid the blows. The rhythm of Cuban slowed slightly during the following commitments, which allowed Pascal to recover during the second half of the duel, despite a worsening of his injury to his right hand during the 3rd round. Both boxers gave several blows of power, particularly in the 2nd, 4th and 6th round, but Pascal was never really able to threaten Gonzalez.

"I got into the ring with a bruised hand. I tried to fix that, but I am not entered the ring at 110% [...] I tried to do the best possible with one hand [... [I controlled the fight and the pace was exactly the one I wanted [...] It was a good fight, very tight [...]" said Pascal after the battle.

A statement very far from that of Cuban, who broke down in tears after the announcement of his defeat "I am so sad [...] I was the true warrior, it has robbed to me (the victory). He did not win, I won. I'm the real winner," an opinion widely shared by the public.
