Haiti - Jacmel : A baby of 4 month old shotted

Chayina Alexis, a 4 month old baby was shot dead by unidentified persons on the night of Tuesday 19 to Wednesday, October 20, 2010, in the commune of lamandou located east of the city of Jacmel around 2:00 am.

According Brusma Rony, a member of the family, 14 masked and armed individuals managed to break the main door giving access to the interior of the house. The robbers searched the house hoping to find money. "They asked us to give them money, we told them we did not do except a radio," says the mother of Chayina.

Furious, angry bandits started shooting in every direction, reaching fatally Chayina Alexis aged of 4 months who died on the spot. According to information reported to journalists by members of the family, the kidnappers took away the money, four mobile phones and anything they found on their way.

The victim's family is inconsolable and demands justice for Chayina Alexis. The baby's body was transported to the morgue of the hospital Saint Michel de Jacmel after a finding of a magistrate and police regional of Sud'Est.

Note that insecurity intensified in recent weeks in the Southeast, particularly in Jacmel. Recall that two weeks ago, Croyance Pierre, a pastor returning from the church was seriously wounded by unidentified gunmen in the town of Bois Bœuf at around 8 pm.
