Haiti - Politic : The Embassy of Haiti in DR, finally delivered identification documents...

Monday, two months after the expiration of the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners, which expired on 17 June, hundreds of sugar cane workers and other of our compatriots part of a group convened of 1,390 people have finally received their birth certificates and extracts of State Civil Acts, after having registered several months ago to the Identification and Documentation of Haitian Immigrants Program (PIDIH) set up by the Government of Haiti.

The delivery of these documents, which took place at the Embassy of Haiti in Santo Domingo was chaired by acting Ambassador Magali Jeanty Magloire in the presence of Wilfrid Bertrand, Director of the National Archives of Haiti, Ms. Miousemme Celestin Minister Advisor of the Embassy of Haiti in the Dominican Republic and Deputy Coordinator of the PIDIH and other Haitian officials.

The Ambassador Magloire assured the Haitian nationals of the support and cooperation in searching for documents to regularize their status in the country, what she considers as a duty and responsibility of the Haitian state "I want to express solidarity with our compatriots living in the Dominican Republic. I renew my commitment and that of the entire nation to do everything, regardless of the cost, to insure and end of regularization problems."

She said she was delighted with the unconditional support of the Haitian government, diplomats and PIDIH employees, advocating the maintenance of an open dialogue with its citizens, to continue the identification and documentation process.

Ms. Miousemme Celestin, invited all Haitians, that in recent days have received their birth certificates to continue to visit the offices to demand their identity cards and later their Haitian passport.

A delivery of documents that will be useful primarily to those who are already registered in the PNRE, and which, perhaps will be able to add missing documents to their application. For others who have not had the opportunity to enroll in PNRE, waiting to get their passport if they wish to live in Dominican Republic, they will have no other choice than to undertake the long immigration process provided for in the Dominican immigration law of 285-04. Because these identification documents regulate in nothing their irregular migratory situation in the Dominican Republic.
