Haiti - Senegal : The integration of Haitian students, a shared responsibility

Francis Ngor Ndiaye, a specialist in sociology of education, suggested to the 163 Haitian students, recipients of scholarships in Senegal to integrate into the Senegalese culture, to better integrate into their host countries.

"To integrate better, they [the Haitian students] must immerse themselves in cultural activities in Senegal and participate [...] responsibilities are shared between these students from Senegal, as regards their integration [...] It does not cost much, you just have to want to succeed [...] If we are not careful Haitian students who are with us, will go home and say that the Senegalese are rogues, that they are deceiving the people"

"The majority of Senegalese students talk all the time Wolof" Francis Ngor Ndiaye advise them to speak French in the premises of the university for the benefit of international students. Analyzing the issues of social integration, the sociologist observes: "There are people who suffer from loneliness for having built a wall around them [...] avoid prejudice and take time to discover others with their education and behaviors. If the student remains all the time among his compatriots, never try to go to the people of his host country, what will he withhold from Senegal? It's to them [the Haitian] to help us, to help them".
