A total of 1.300 kg of cocaine worth nearly $ 45 million were seized in two operations conducted by units of the Coast Guard of the United States based in San Juan (Puerto Rico).

Wednesday, October 28, the Coast Guard indicated in a statement that the first operation was conducted October 19, 2015, when a suspect vessel was detected at about 70 kilometers south-east of Haiti. The boat was intercepted and a cocaine cargo of nearly 1.100 kg, that the crew had thrown overboard before being arrested by the Coast Guard, was recovered.

In a second operation conducted October 21, 2015, 3 persons traveling in a suspicious speedboat on the Caribbean route have been arrested. A Coast Guard boat followed the speedboat until nearby Saona Island (Dominican Republic), where the occupants were arrested with 8 packets containing 200 kg of cocaine.
