Monday morning, of Haitians attacked an official vehicle of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) in the Dominican Republic, while immigration officers were performing an arrest operation of foreigners in irregular migratory situation.

The DGM indicated that the attack occurred at 9:45 am to the extension of the avenue February 27 at the height of Residencial Alameda west of Santo Domingo. Refusing that their compatriots are arrested, a crowd of more than a hundred Haitians, armed with sticks and stones have opposed to the work of agents of migration, striking violently several times two officials of the DGM, Angelis Cuevas and Jonathan Ramos, which had to be transported to an emergency medical center in the region.

A Haitian undocumented, who was under arrest inside the vehicle was also injured by thrown stones, many of whom were found in the vehicle. After causing damage to the vehicle of the DGM, Haitians have quickly fled when police arrived at the scene to take control of the situation.
