Haiti - Diplomacy : China ready to help Haiti

Monday at the presidential office in Taipei (Taiwan) the new Ambassador of Haiti in Republic of China (Taiwan), Rachel Coupaud presented her credentials to President Ma Ying-jeou that she met for the first time.

President Ma Ying-jeou took the opportunity to highlight the good relations between the two countries, which have developed collaborations in the areas of agriculture, judicial, medical treatment or in the academic field. The Republic of China has also provided assistance to Haiti to resolve issues related to food security.

Ma Ying-jeou explained that in 2012, total trade between the two countries amounted to 19.38 million US dollars and increased to 28.3 million in 2014. The President of China, also pointed out that Rachel Coupaud had even before taking his new position, while she was ichargée d’Affaire to the Embassy of Haiti in Taiwan, had encouraging exchanges and communication between businessmen of both countries.

"Our government is fully ready to cooperate in the future in important measures implemented by the Haitian government. We will continue to encourage joint projects in all fields, and will support as much as we can the development and construction of Haiti. We will provide our assistance particularly in the field of solar energy and vocational training projects.

It is in both cases, to allow the country development on the long term, because we want the two countries can benefit from a certain well-being,"

said Ma Ying-jeou.

President Ma Ying-jeou reiterated his invitation to President Michel Martelly for the celebrations of 60 years of bilateral relations.
