Thursday at the Marriott Hotel, on the initiative of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC), the President Michel Martelly in the presence of among others of Prime Minister Paul Evans, Jimmy Albert, Minister of MJSAC, Victor Benoit, Minister of Social Affairs, Nesmy Manigat, Minister of National Education, former Ministers and Secretaries of State MJSAC, the President of the Senate and personalities of the Haitian sports, opened the Summit of the National Assizes of Sports (26, 27 and 28 November) whose the project had been approved late July 2015 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-14688-haiti-politic-towards-of-national-assizes-of-sports.html .

In his opening speech, the President Martelly declared "I welcome the participation in this summit of delegates from the ten departments of the country. My presence among you testified you one more time, all my fierceness for everything concerning the sport in the country. My administration has understood the importance of sport, which has meant that we have built over 30 sports parks across the country [...] I declare open the National Assizes of Sports," concluded the Head of State.

These Assizes will allow the State and the various players in the sector to finalize the national policy document of the sport and to discuss the draft framework law on sport in Haiti.

Like the President Martelly and Prime Minister Paul, the Minister Albert highlighted the importance of sport for young people and discussed the scope of the provisions that will be adopted to ensure a future for all sports played throughout the national territory "These provisions are expressed through two documents developed from a methodology having for conceptual basis : the consensus and living together which are two concepts to which we attach great importance in our vision of sport management. This is the document of the national sports policy and another that presents a draft framework law on sport in Haiti," emphasizing on the draft law seen as a legal reference which should condition any sport in Haiti.
