Friday Me. Pierre-Richard Casimir, the Minister of Justice, participated to the closing ceremony of a 10-days training seminar, on human rights, organized by the International Institute of Human Rights to the intention of 83 participants (including 24 women) : jurists, lawyers, members of organizations defending human rights, academics and students.

After dealing in 2013 of vulnerable people and in 2014 of child rights, the seminar of this year was devoted to the application of international human rights in domestic law, a particularly important theme in Haiti, who signed many declarations and conventions, (foremost among them the Universal Declaration of Human Rights), but many of the provisions, of these agreements are only partially implemented.

The training was conducted by trainers from France, Canada, Mexico, Germany and Costa Rica.

Alongside the Ambassador of France in Haiti, Elisabeth Béton Délègue and Ambassador of the European Union, Vincent Dégert, the Minister Casimir reiterated the importance of human rights in the policy of the rule of law advocated by the Administration Martelly. He praised the involvement of the Civil Society Initiative in the organization, Haiti, of this high-level seminar.

He said he hoped that judges, lawyers and jurists, who have benefited from this training, will use the knowledge acquired in the exercise of their functions "Haiti is a host country for all human rights defenders," recalled the Minister, emphasizing the historical role of Haiti in the affirmation of the right to freedom in the world.
