Haiti - Reconstruction : The new Ministry of Interior almost ready

Audain Bernadel, the Secretary of State for Local Authorities, accompanied by the Director of Administrative Affairs and Budget of the Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), visited the construction site of the new Ministry, located on the corner Paul VI and street Monseigneur Guilloux, in the company of Engineers of the Housing and Public Building Construction Unit (UCLBP) in order to assess the progress of works advancing rapidly.

The new building of the Ministry of the Interior includes four parking levels which can contain more than one hundred vehicles and 4 floors of offices (around 6,000 m2), which will host mainly the directorates and the services of the Ministry, as well as the offices of the Minister and his Cabinet, the offices of the Secretaries of State and their teams, among others. Each level also has a conference room and a toilet block.

The resort was built in compliance with the most stringent standards allowing it to withstand major shocks, said the engineers auditors of the UCLBP. Several other factors were taken into account to ensure the safety of users of the new building, including protection against the spread of fires.

Over 85% of the work is completed and the engineers and workers are working hard to deliver a secure building and fully functional promptly.
