Haiti - Insecurity : The ghost weapons of INITE...

Vincenzo Pugliesse, the spokesman for the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (MINUSTAH), said yesterday, after a month of investigations by police, it was not possible to confirm the allegations made regarding distributions or the trafficking of weapons into the country during the election campaign.

Recall that on October 6, the candidate Jacques Edouard Alexis was revealed at the opening of his campaign headquarters, that the power in place was distributing firearms to its partisans with the approach of the elections of November 28th. On October 9th, Senator Edmonde Beauzile, denounced the circulation of illegal weapons in his department, blaming, according to its remarks, candidates of official platform INITE.

Unless considering that the police and Minustah, are accomplices of those in power, it seems that these weapons were more of an "electoral buzz" at the beginning of the campaign that a reality. However, not to have been able to confirm the claims of candidates, not exclude the existence of weapons on the territory of Haiti and their potential uses on the eve of the election.
